About the Area

Banner Elk is located in the heart of the High Country and offers a small town feel and friendly faces wherever you go.

Spring and Summer offer beautiful scenery, with the rhododendrons and trees back in full bloom. There are many hiking and biking trails, which offer a great way to enjoy the views. Banner Elk has several inns, restaurants and locally-owned shops that offer something for everyone to enjoy.

Banner Elk is home to a wonderful town park, many quaint shops, the mill pond, and Lees-McRae College. It is also just a short drive away from numerous area attractions. It is also the host of the annual Woolly Worm Festival, which attracts close to 20,000 people each year. We've provided links below to some area activities.
